When I discovered the late Queen’s cortege would be passing within twelve or so miles of my home on its way from Balmoral to Edinburgh I thought this is a bit of history (before her no monarch had died in Scotland since the father of Mary Queen of Scots) so we might as well go and see it. Something to tell the grandkid(s.) It would be the closest I’ll ever get to a reigning sovereign after all.
At first we tried to stand behind a crash barrier by the M 90 near Milnathort, Perth and Kinross, but a policewoman moved us on so we ended up on a motorway bridge. It wasn’t a good vantage point.
I did get a reasonable shot of the cortege approaching (the West Lomond Hill is in the background):-

However the close up I tried to get was too blurry. (The hearse was travelling at speed.)
I hurried to the other side of the bridge to snap this, which ended up very badly focused.

The convoy was actually quite large. This shows its tail end:-

It struck me when I downloaded it off the camera that it was fairly appropriate, though, as she was by that time gone. Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor slipping inexorably into history (at 70 miles an hour.)

Stanley Mills are the reason why the village of Stanley in Perth and Kinross was built – to house the workers.
The mill is sited right beside the River Tay. This enabled it to make use of the water flow as the Tay never ran dry.
Some of the Mill buildings have been converted to housing but the westernmost is now an exhibition centre run by Historic Environment Scotland to demonstrate the Mills’ history and evolution over the years.
There is a lovely little gatehouse at the entrance to the mill complex:-

Stanley is a village in Perth and Kinross, built in the late 1700s to house workers for a local mill.
Old church, now apparently unsafe to approach or enter:-

Bishopshire War Memorial is a stone column with inscribed Celtic cross situated in front of Bishopshire Golf Club’s clubhouse off the A 911 road between Scotlandwell and Kinnesswood in the former Kinross-shire part of Perth and Kinross. (I have no idea why the golf club is called Bishopshire except that it must be a local name. In my youth I used to play league badminton against Bishopshire Badminton Club who played out of a church hall in Scotlandwell.)

Dedications. “To the memory of the lads from this parish who fell in the Great War 1914-1918.” Lower dedication, “Also those who fell in 2nd World War.” At bottom, “Their name liveth forevermore”:-

Dunning is a village in Strathearn, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. Its War Memorial is a Celtic Cross set into a shaped stone above a series of steps.
The steps are inscribed with the dates 1915, 1916, 1917, 1918. The cross has 1919 just below it. The main tablet is inscribed, “Erected by the inhabitants of Dunning and District in grateful memory of the men from the neighbourhood who fell in the Great War.” The curved one above states, “These four tablets were added in memory of those who died in the war 1939 – 1945.”

Scone is a town just to the north-east of Perth in Perth and Kinross. The nearby Scone Palace was the historic crowning site for Scottish monarchs. A replica of the Stone of Scone (Stone of Destiny) lies in the Palace’s grounds.
A Celtic style cross on a tapering plinth, Scone’s War Memorial stands on a small promontory beside the cemetery to the south of the town by the A 94 road. This side has the dedication for the Great War.

The revrse side bears the World War 2 dedication:-

Great War Dedication. Reads, “To the memory of the men from the Parish of Scone who to uphold liberty laid down their lives in the Great War 1914 – 1919.” Names A – Mi:-

Great War names Mo – Ro:-

Great War names Ru – Y:-

World War 2 dedication. “Also to the memory of the men of this Parish who laid down their lives in the World War 1939 – 1945.”
Plus one name for Iraq 2003:-

I ended up behind this van while wending my way through south Perth and Kinross, while travelling north on the A 912 in March 2017.

I didn’t know the Pasadena Roof Orchestra was still going.

This wonderful Art Deco cinema in Aberfeldy, Perthshire (or Perth and Kinross as it has now become) is perhaps not what you expect to see in a small town in the middle of Scotland. Still in use as a cinema (plus cafe and bar.) The Birks (birches) is a local beauty spot/steep valley.

Entrance. Like the rest of the cinema (refurbished quite recently I believe) the glazing isn’t original:-

Minor Art Deco in Crieff, in the old Perthshire part of Perth and Kinross.
Two shops on the High Street.

Pity the windows have been poked out on this one.
