As a town, Oswestry in Shropshire, England, may have seen better days. A lot of the buildings in the town centre looked tired.
The former Regal Cinema certainly has the deco look, though it’s now what looks like a hairdresser’s plus a Factory Shop. The original glazing would have looked better but the replacement windows are adequate:-

Reverse view. The canopy and roofline above are good features:-

Could this once have been a Woolworths? It’s now a Poundland anyway. And a Pep & Co:-

Frontal view:-

The Sports Direct has also seen better days:-

This stunning builidng is hard by Blackpool Tower.
Loads of horizontals and verticals. And that clock tower! (Blackpool Tower behind):-

West (seaside) frontage. Now the Albert and Lion pub:-

Clock Tower:-

South facade and part of clock tower:-

Towards the rear the building has a delightful curve. Those portions now house a Poundland and a Sports Direct:-

The detailing here is sublime:-

A couple more Art Deco buildings in Bathgate.
This one looks like an ex-Woolworths but is now a Poundland. Typical deco styling:-

Deco touches:-

Bank of Scotland. This may be later but has deco elements, especially the tall window:-

The Pavilion, an ex-cinema, isn’t truly deco as it was built in 1920 but it prefigures the style. Note the Rule of Three in the front windows and door:-

Musselburgh has at least three Art Deco buildings.
This is the David Macbeth Moir pub on Bridge Street, a Wetherspoon’s. (David Macbeth Moir is a historical local worthy.)

The building was formerly the Hayweights cinema. Its detailing and lettering is now after Charles Rennie Mackintosh – Mockintosh, then.

Further up Bridge Street is The Royal Bank of Scotland building. That window covered with wooden board is a bit worrying!

On High Street, almost opposite the War Memorial, can be found Poundland. The High Street was busy – difficult to get a photo without traffic.

More of my Musselburgh photos are on my flickr.

There is a nice block of flats called Cambray Court located in the centre of Cheltenham. Reminiscent of Kelvin Court, Glasgow.

This is Monsoon. Originally a Burton’s. The link has some good pictures of the detailing.

Now Poundland. Goodness knows what it was to begin with.

Starbucks. Ditto.

Art Deco houses on Evesham Road. Amazingly the original glazing seems to still be in place. (They look like Critall windows to me.) Compare and contrast with Silver End.

The upward curve on the wall at the side is nice on that first one. Three of this collection of 5 buildings are set in a little crescent off the main road:-

The last two semis of the five:-

Cheek by jowl with the previous semi. Glazing replaced. (Eyes poked out):-

The next house along has suffered a similar fate.

Not a bad haul of deco in Cheltenham, then, for a three hour visit.
