Reaching no 5 in the charts in 1986, this is the late lamented Palmer’s biggest UK hit – no doubt helped by the backing “band” in the video. I suppose it’s the image most people associate with him.

Some wit has commented on YouTube that if you look closely you’ll notice Robert Palmer is in the video.

Robert Palmer: Addicted to Love

Robert Palmer was co-lead singerof the band Vinegar Joe. He shared vocal duties with Elkie Brookes, whom I featured here.

From 1988, this is Palmer’s second biggest solo hit. The beginning of its verse always reminds me of Surf’s Up by the Beach Boys.

The video is much less controversial than the one for his biggest Addicted to Love.

Robert Palmer: She Makes My Day

Two for the price of one this week.

Same tune, different treatments. (Any excuse to play Nirvana.)

It’s not the most psychedelic of Nirvana’s tracks, though.

The Alan Bown!’s wiki entry is here. Robert Palmer was a member for a while.
