Another one from Cliff. He recorded some good stuff at times. Like The Day I Met Marie this was written by Hank Marvin.
I saw this cited in a list of 1960s psychedelia. At the time of its release, because of its performers, I did not consider it as such.
The drum pattern in this prefigures the one in Neanderthal Man by Hotlegs, the group that was the precursor to 10cc.

Here’s a version from 1970 as credited to Marvin, Welch and Farrar.

Heyday Cliff Richard was before my time but he still had some songs I could appreciate.
Written by The Shadows’ Hank Marvin, this is one of them.

Glasgow’s own B A Robertson’s first UK hit. From 1979.
After a small flurry of hits he graduated to writing songs for others including hits for Cliff Richard and Mike and the Mechanics.
Here he is “performing” the single on Top of the Pops.

Another one from 1980.
Cliff Richard with the frankly stalkerish Carrie.

Cliff Richard?
Well, apart from the fact he was my sister-in-law’s favourite singer in his bland time during the 60s, why not?
He made a number of harder edged singles in the later 1970s – not to mention Carrie, which came out in 1980.
