Inside St Andrew’s Church in Corbridge are two memorials to the men of Corbridge Parish who died in the World Wars.

In addition to these there is in the lychgate of the church a plaque commemorating the Great War dead. The plaque is covered in perspex hence reflections:-

The Vicar’s Pele is a building which stands in the grounds surrounding St Andrew’s Church. It was once the vicarage for the church but now houses a pub!

Inside the church was an art installation by Keith Roberts MRSS, named Caporetto after the Great War battle also known as the Twelfth Battle of the Isonzo.

Bellingham is a village in Northumberland, 18 or so miles north of Hexham. Its name is pronounced Belling-jum.

Seahouses is a village a few miles south-east of Bamburgh on the North Sea coast of Northumberland The Memorial is a stone obelisk on a rectangular plinth situated on a roundabout at the junction of Main Street and Seafield Road. The dedications are for North Sunderland Parish.

This is set in a niche/cave in the wall below Bamburgh Castle. It can be seen in the view of Bamburgh Castle in the first photo of this post.

The Memorial has the form of a crucifix on a rectangular plinth. The name plaques are fixed to the rock walls behind.

A figure of a kilted soldier in bronze atop a pedestal of granite stones, this lies in a small park area to the side of a roundabout at the junction of Nairn Road, Bridge Street and St Catherine’s Road.

This one is courtesy of my younger son who sent me the photo from his trip to Lochinver last year.

Lochinver is a village in Assynt, Sutherland.

Its War Memorial depicts a kilted soldier with rifle at the ready atop a granite column above a tapering plinth.

Here can be seen dedications to both World Wars. Second World War names shown below. (Great War names are on the memorial’s sides.)

We drove through Ardersier (located on that arm of the Moray Firth which leads to Inverness) on the way to see Fort George – which was shut.

Like the Memorial at Resolis this is a column with carved crossed sword and rifle enclosed by a wreath, all surmounted by an urn:-

A stone cross above a tapered rectangular column situated on a small hill at the junction of the A 862 and A 831 a mile or so west of Beauly itself.

World War dedications and names. An inscription states “Parish of Kilmorack” in which parish Beauly lies. There is also a name for 1979, presumably a death in Northern Ireland:-

The War Memorial for the parish of Resolis lies beside the B 9163 road in Cromarty.
