Newton Stewart used to be in Wigtownshire but that was later subsumed into the larger Dumfries and Galloway region.
Cinema. It is just known as The Cinema:-

The Galloway Arms Hotel, Newton Stewart, is a bit worse for wear but the detailing on the canopy has deco touches:-

Hi there, Yes, the Galloway Arms Hotel in Newton Stewart is where I spent the first 15 years of my life! My grandparents owned and ran it from 1947-77. As for the art deco balcony I can tell you that my grandfather had it installed for free in 1951! He knew a lot of people including a Mr Jack Slater of the Solway Precast. Grampa asked him if he could do a balcony above the front door not unlike Claridges hotel in London! Jack Slater saw it as a great way to advertise what could be done at Solway Precast and the bespoke balcony graced the hotel free of charge!
It is sad that now since you photographed it, it is now in a ruinous state having been hit twice by lorries and the hotel is closed and empty. I feel so bad seeing this as when my family owned it it was very glamorous, luxurious and way ahead of it’s time! There were quite a few rare and beutiful art deco features inside, now sadly sold off and gone!

Angus,
I hope my post brought back some happy memories. It’s always good to see Art Deco.
Sad that a lot of it is now in a poor state, or as you say sold off.
So sorry to hear the Hotel has now closed.
Thanks for looking in and commenting.
