Groovy Phobos

I got this one from The Daily Galaxy of 12/11/15.
Mars’s moon, Phobos, is groovy.
The grooves, and the depression shown below, are apparently due to the moon being slowly torn apart by gravitational tidal forces.

Oho! “The Daily Galaxy” is a site that I’d lost track of last year. I’m glad to be able to connect to it again.

Denis,
It has good stuff but it seems to take ages to load onto my computer.
(It also gets a fair few nutters posting in the comments sections.)
