Polish Memorials

During World War 2 a lot of Poles who had escaped from their country after the twin invasions of 1939 came to Britain and joined the UK armed forces. Many of them ended up stationed in Fife.
The two memorials above were presented respectively to the towns of Elie & Earlsferry and St Andrews as a token of gratitude for the hospitality they received.
The St Andrews mosaic is particularly striking.
