Art Deco Style Window, Modern Two, Edinburgh

This window is in the gents’ toilet at Modern Two (Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art). I love its geometric style.

Former Palace Cinema, Coalville [Art Deco in Coalville (ii)]

This former cinema (on Jackson Street in Coalville) but now a Bingo Hall, screams deco.

Older Mold

Apart from its two Art Deco buildings (and even they were minor – see previous post) most of the architecture in Mold was fairly undistinguished.

St Mary’s Church (Eglwys y Santes Fair) prominent at the end of the High Street and built in thanksgivinbg for Henry VII of England’s victory at Bosworth Field was an exception.

So too was this Tudor style building with unusual glazing, just opposite St Mary’s :-

Scotland’s Art Deco Heritage 43: Stonehaven (ii)

On the way up to Peterhead we stopped at Stonhaven again.

I took a few more photos of that Art Deco terrace of shops.

Edinburgh’s Art Deco Heritage 9: Nicolson Street

I spotted these windows the last time we were in Edinburgh.
They are at the start of Nicolson Street, just after South Bridge travelling south.
They seem to belong at the moment to a restaurant called Spoon.
It’s the overall shape plus the bend to the frontage that gives the Deco feel.

The nice stained glass detailing is more Art Nouveau than Deco however.
