Small Bridge in Biggar

Between the War Memorial and the Art Deco hairdresser’s in Biggar, Lanarkshire (posts passim) there runs a burn.* Over it lies a nice arched bridge.
And this is the reverse view:-
*For those who may not be familiar with the word, burn is Scots for stream.

QUOTE: “For those who may not be familiar with the word, burn is Scots for stream.”
When I was ten years old or so, I thought I’d give literature a shot, and picked up what must have been a Stevenson story. On the first page, I was stumped by the word “burn.” I looked it out in the word-book. The book told me a burn is a rivulet. But we didn’t have rivulets in the South Bronx. I at once gave up.
In spite of my numerous trips to Scotland, I never got to see a burn.

Oh but Denis,
Any wee river is a burn.
