The usual win against Iceland, then, but not the most convincing of performances. Is there any point in qualifying for the World Cup – or even the play-offs?
Sorry. I’m a bit jaded. I think I need a holiday.

I thought it was better than that, Jack. There were times we were so on top of them it wasn’t funny. A bit more confidence at the sharp end and we’d have been well in front.
What I find frustrating is that we’ve just lost that sense of self belief that we had under Smith and McLeish. It’ll take a run of good results to get it back, but I think we will. We’ve got decent some players. I tell you as a Rangers fan though. I’d be perfectly happy now not to see Ferguson in dark blue again. The midfield just works better without him.
As for qualifying. Well, yes it’s important that we reach the play-offs and hopefully the finals, because it’s all part of the development of the current group of players. They need that experience if they are to do better next time round.
If we go about saying: “I hope we don’t qualify because we’ll get gubbed”, we’ll never get back to the level of glorious by-a-baw-hair failure that is our birthright.

It’s just my natural pessimism, Neil. After all, I support Dumbarton.
I agree about sense of belief and Bazza, though.

I usually go to the terracing, but if I decide to sit in the stand I’ll be the beardy guy in a red jacket.
