Something Changed 80: High Tension at Boghead

A double dose of nostalgia today. The 90s and Boghead.

Boghead was of course the ground where the mighty Sons of the Rock used to play before they moved to The Rock in 2000. At that point it was the oldest ground in Scotland that had been in continuous use.

This clip shows the new “Postage Box” stand, erected in 1980. This held 303 people rather than just 80 in the old one.

Where Boghead once was is now covered in housing.

Down at the Rock

Well.

I don’t quite know how to react to this.

A new song about the club written by a bloke called Neil Grant.

The link and video below don’t make clear whether its title is The Dumbarton FC Song or Down at the Rock but, whatever, I suppose it might catch on.

Believe it or not there is a tradition of such things.

The Dumbarton FC Song doesn’t quite have the cachet nor capture the essence of attending a Scottish lower league game as does High Tension at Boghead by The Supernaturals.

Then of course there is the sublime (!) The Sons We’re the Ones, now and then known to be played over the PA at The Rock.
