I give you two for the price of one this week. (Not that either of them actually costs anything.)
The In Crowd was a hit in both these decades, first for Dobie Gray in 1965, then for Brian Ferry in 1974.
Here’s Dobie Gray in a US TV appearance.
Dobie Gray: The In Crowd
Ferry’s treatment of the song is a little different.

I see from this that Dobie Gray, whom I featured as number five in my Reelin’ In The Years series, has himself drifted away.
He didn’t have many hits but was apparently big on the Northern Soul scene.
This is his other widely known song, The ‘In’ Crowd, from the 1960s.
Dobie Gray (Lawrence Darrow Brown): 26/6/1940 – 6/12/2011. So it goes.

Another song solidly from the seventies – though Dobie Gray did have a hit in the 60s with The âInâ Crowd.
I like the tick-tock sound the drummer makes at the beginning of the second verse, âBeginning to think that Iâm wasting time.â The video blips just after that for some reason (at about 1 minute 10 seconds.)
Wikipedia says Drift Away wasn’t a hit in the UK.
Well, I bought it!
