Amphibian Visitor

This summer we replaced one of the sinks in our house. The old one was then pressed into service as a makeshift pond for the garden.
Within 24 hours of filling it with water the “pond” had a visitor:-
By this one the frog (or toad) had climbed out to the side:-

You must live pretty close to Toad Hall.
When I was visiting my daughter and her Scottish husband in Moray five years or so ago, the entire cast of animal characters of the Wind in the Willows, with the exception of Badger, made the scene–Toad, Rat, and Mole. Hundreds of moles in fact. I’d never read realized how big molehills were, nor how horribly numerous. I was advised by a commentator on the Wind story that Ratty really was a vole. That was news to me.

Denis,
What puzzled me is the nearest water is about 400 hundred yards away. Moles, yes. We passed a molehill this morning. No badgers – and no rats I can see!
I’ve known for years that Ratty was a vole. I can’t remember how I learned that though.
