Scotland 3-0 Northern Ireland

Carling Nations Cup, Aviva Stadium, Dublin, 9/2/11.
A comprehensive win it seems, most unlike recent Scotland performances.
There were no extended highlights on television, however, just the goals* on the news, so I’ve no idea whether we were any good or not.
*Fluky second goal perchance.
The Norn Irish were missing a few players.
Mustn’t sniff at a 3-0 win though.

I never thought I’d say this but…
Scotland had 70% possession.
I never thought I’d say this either…
Scotland had 70% possession and the game was boring.
We were totally dominant throughout, the Northern Irish spent long periods camped in their own half, we actually passed the ball quite a few times instead of lobbing it up the park, and we finally have the bare bones of a half-decent team.
And still, the game was boring.

A good win and a pleasing result. As even the dullest of pundits would say, we (Scotland) can only play what’s put in front of us, and a 3-0 win cannot be sniffed at.
I enjoyed it anyway!
