This photo appeared on the DFC website on Christmas Eve. I don’t know when it was taken as it doesn’t often snow in Dumbarton, it being on the confluence of two rivers, but it looks lovely.
Dumbarton FC, the Sons of the Rock, became 150 years old in December 2022. To mark the occasion various events were held over the year and a special set of strips was worn for the season.
There was also an exhibition held in Dumbarton Library featuring items from the club’s history. We visited it in November.

The picture below, Dumbarton FC’s stadium in the shadow of Dumbarton Rock, appeared on an email I received from the club. (I get them as a result of signing up for club news.)
On our visit to the town last March we also had a look in Dumbarton town centre. The Artizan Shopping Centre has seen better days. That day many of its premises did not have tenants. Covid can only have made that worse.
Some of the empty units had been brightened up though by having huge photographs of Dumbarton Rock pasted onto their frontages. These are crops of the photos I took of those huge photos.
The Rock is a beautiful sight, isn’t it?. And that’s a lovely sky.
This cracking shot of Dumbarton Rock and Dumbarton Football Stadium (aka The Rock) was posted in 2020 in a blog I follow:-
And this view was in a newsletter from Dumbarton FC:-
Another two points dropped late on at home against a team we really need to be beating.
But.. this wasn’t a complete disaster. We didn’t fall further behind Cowdenbeath and the two game losing run – the longest under Ian Murray (so far!) – ended.
Can’t see us getting much against Thistle at Firhill next week though.
