I was so sad to hear about the death of former Scottish rugby international Doddie Weir.

He had a fine international carrer but sadly is now perhaps better known for campaigning for greater awareness of motor neurone disease which he revealed in 2017 that he suffered from.

He set up the My Name’5 Doddie foundation to rasie funds for research into the disease and help those affected by it.

In his television appearances discussing the condition he always appeared to be a gentleman and remarkably cheerful.
