Dumbarton 3-1 Inverness Caledonian Thistle

SPFL Tier 3, The Rock, 26/10/24.

Two wins in a row! Great.

And against a barrage of media interest in our opposition, all but egging them on.

Their story could have gone two ways today after their administration on Monday and subsequent fifteen point deduction. Either it could have galvanised them or else they could have continued stumbling along as they have been this season.

Two from Jinky Hilton and a single from Ryan Blair did for them, though.

So we’re now second bottom (I note we would still have gone above ICT even without their fifteen point penalty) but we’re only five points off top spot. It’s a crazy division.

We’re at home to the league leaders next week. It doesn’t get easy.

Dumbarton 0-2 St Mirren

SPFL Tier 2, The Rock, 13/1/2018.

I hadn’t expected anything from this game even if we have recently done reasonably well against St Mirren.

But the results elsewhere mean we’re now above Falkirk only on goal difference.

In recent seasons we’ve been reliant on at least one full-time team in the division performing relatively badly. With Falkirk seeming to have got their act together and Inverness CT scooting alomost out of sight above us that situation may not prevail this season.

I fully expect us to be firmly in ninth position by this time on the 27th after our next league game.

It’s also going to be a tough game up at Peterhead in the Cup next Saturday. They banged in at least four goals again today (even if they did also lose three.)

Dumbarton 0-2 Dundee United

SPFL Tier 2, The Rock, 28/10/17.

Seems like this was a bad one.

If only they hadn’t punted their manager during the week….. We did well against him when he was in post.

And Inverness CT’s sudden discovery of form has put us down a place.

I now have the fear for next Saturday at Brechin. Even this early it looks like a crunch game. If we lose it gives them heart and makes our job of ending above them more problematic. They’ll be targetting this, I have no doubt.

Morton 1-1 Dumbarton

SPFL Tier 2, Cappielow Park, 21/10/17.

Well, I’d have taken this before the game. A point away from home especially against a team above us in the league is never a bad thing. Plus we had a few out with injury.

But we could have done without Inverness Caley Thistle beating Dundee Utd…

Dumbarton 2-1 Inverness Caledonian Thistle

SPFL Tier 2, The Rock, 23/9/17.

A historic day at The Rock.

Sons’ first ever game against ICT at home – and our first ever win against them.

Our Dimitris (though he seems to have been dubbed Froxy) came up trumps again for the equaliser and Sam Wardrop chipped in with the winner.

So that’s nine points from seven games – only two shy of Morton. Two difficult ones against teams above us now though before the first quarter finishes.
