Ouch!

We could have done without such a thumping.

I suppose it’s a sign of our lack of cohesion. The team hasn’t had any time at all to gel. But it’s a bit of an embarrassment nonetheless.

Still, we lost 7-0 at St Mirren in the League Cup in August 2008 and went on to win the league that year.

Do you hear the sound of someone clutching at straws?

Well if the play-offs hadn’t been nailed on before last night they are now. There’s no way we’re making up eight points in four games.

Mind you, I make it that’s five points we’ve lost to late goals against us. Those would have made it tighter. But they came during weeks where we had three games to play.

At least we seem to be able to score goals again. I hope that continues on Saturday up at Inverness.

SPFL Tier 2, The Rock, 20/2/18

Unfortunately the euphoria didn’t last long. Down to Earth with a bump.

It was always going to be hard playing a league match so soon after Saturday’s exertions.

And we’ve got a glut of fixtures to cope with. Two games a week for the immediate future.

I hope everybody gets back fit sharpish.

Scottish Cup, Round Five, Cappielow Park, 10/2/18.

So that’s us out of the cup then. Doesn’t look like it was a good day for us at all. We seem to be really toiling.

Six points behind 8^th place in the league now too almost certainly means we’ll be in the relegation play-offs. I can’t see us making up the gap especially with all the postponed games we need to catch up on.

Next up is the Challenge Cup sem-final against The New Saints in Oswestry on Saturday 17^th. Catch it live on S4C if you can’t get to the game. Kick-off is 7.35 I think.

It’ll be a change and new experience for the fans. A bit of pressure off for the players too, though arguably today was too. And they’ve got to go again in the league the Tuesday after.

I had some optimism about this game when the draw was made but that’s just about evaporated now what with recent results.

Still, you never know.

SPFL Tier 2, Cappielow Park, 21/10/17.

Well, I’d have taken this before the game. A point away from home especially against a team above us in the league is never a bad thing. Plus we had a few out with injury.

But we could have done without Inverness Caley Thistle beating Dundee Utd…

SPFL Tier 2, The Rock, 5/8/17.

It’s a point. Not one I’d really been expecting after the League Cup games so I’m grateful for it.

No way yet of course to tell how good a point it is.

Two of the teams below us you would think will challenge at the top of the table and one of them, Falkirk, we play at their place next week – and they’ll be looking to make up for their loss today.

This football supporting lark doesn’t get any more comfortable.

SPFL Tier 2, The Rock, 2/4/16.

Well. It’s as you were in the league what with all five games being draws but the failure of Rangers to win means they have an even bigger incentive to beat us on Tuesday night as that will make them champions. They might not have to beta us if Hibs don’t win – but that’s a situation I wouldn’t like as then Livingston would have avoided defeat against them; on which point thanks to Alloa for getting the draw (which sadly wasn’t enough to prevent them being relegated.)

It’s all getting far too tense. It’s possible, if results go against us, that by the time we play Queen of the South on the 12^th we could be four points behind Livi with a much worse goal difference; very much worse if our usual Ibrox thumping takes palce..

Well that’s the clean sheet run gone then. And we haven’t got into the habit of scoring….

Unfortunately below us Livi picked up a point and Alloa are showing disturbing signs of coming to life.

The game at St Mirren Park next Saturday has just grown in importance.

Oh dear. Things are now getting desperate. Especially with Livingston getting another win today.

Unless there’s a turn-round soon (and there’s little sign of that) I can’t see us avoiding the play-offs – or even the relegation spot.

So. Situation normal. Gloom abounds.

I’m not sure about this result as I’d have taken a draw before the game but as we were against ten men for a while perhaps we ought to have got all three points. Also our record at Cappielow is fairly mince, so a point is good.

But…. We didn’t score. Again.

We won’t keep our head above water if we can’t put the ball in the back of the net.

And we won’t be getting any points next week….
