Read what I said Ewan. Making life tricky and hounding are two different things. And, yes, life has gone smoothly for Republican Administrations in comparison to the Democratic ones I mention.
I agree it is the duty of opposition to oppose. My contention is that Bush has not been hounded in the way that Clinton or Carter were. Hell he’s not even been opposed very well.
Note this is despite Bush doing things that were profoundly worse for America’s interests and standing in the world than anything those gents ever managed.
Republicans seem to be more vicious in their opposition because they don’t seem to accept that anyone other than them is legitimate. That is profoundly undemocratic (with a small d.)
In a piece in the Guardian on Wednesday Jonathan Freedland says that the Republicans are already positioning themselves to question Obama’s legitimacy.

Bonkers.

So things have run "smoothly" with a Republican Executive and a Democratic Congress? You must be insane to believe that only Republicans make life difficult for an executive from the opposite party. Do you really think that a Democratic controlled Congress would not make McCain's life, er, somewhat tricky?

I thought the whole point of opposition was to "hound"?
